Arab Parliament: Failure to hold the Libyan elections may open the door for a new phase of unrest and violence

The Arab Parliament confirmed its support for all efforts to be made to ensure the success of the Libyan presidential and parliamentary elections on December 24, calling on the international community and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to provide all necessary support to reach this important landmark.

In a statement, the Arab Parliament called on all Libyan players to uphold the essential value of the country by turning a fresh page on all differences, supporting the stability and sovereignty of Libya and to take serious measures that would ensure the holding of these elections on time, as is needed to reunify Libya once again.
