Greek-led panel wants cultural, natural monument protection to be part of global climate strategy

On November 2, the Greek Government – through its Coordination Unit at the UN -organized a high-level event chaired by George Kremlis, a principal advisor to Greece’s prime minister, that focused on the need for tackling the effects of the climate crisis to protect the planet’s cultural and natural heritage.

The US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry and European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas emphasized the need to integrate the climate crisis into any national policy, including the Greek initiative for sustainable development as it would be a key pillar for the preservation of world heritage.
