The Israeli government is seeking to prepare its people for a long war that could go on for two years, maybe more, and the Hamas-sympathizing media are characterizing this as a defeat for Israel even though, from the start, Israel warned its citizens that this would be a prolonged war not easily won. Netanyahu laid the conditions for the end of hostilities in an article in the Wall Street Journal in which he said “Hamas must be destroyed, Gaza must be demilitarized, and Palestinian society must be deradicalized. These are the three prerequisites for peace between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors.”

Mr Netanyahu stated in a Wall Street Journal article that “Hamas must be destroyed, Gaza must be demilitarized, and Palestinian society must be deradicalised. These are the three prerequisites for peace between Israel and its Palestinian neighbours.”
